Wellbeing

At Oakhill Drive, we believe wellbeing and positive relationships are key to education. We use a whole-school approach to Positive Education, teaching these principles to students, staff, parents, and the community. Our vision is to help students become creative, connected, and collaborative lifelong learners who grow into healthy, global citizens.

Positive Education at Oakhill is an ongoing part of school life, not just a program. It focuses on building skills like strong relationships, resilience, mindfulness, and healthy living. These skills help students learn better and prepare them for life.

Students experience Positive Education through subjects like PDHPE, other classes, and playground activities. We also promote kindness and empathy through “The Golden Rule”: treat others as you want to be treated. This approach supports students to thrive both in and beyond school.

Individual wellbeing
Wellbeing: is a sustainable state of positive mood and attitude, resilience and satisfaction with self, relationships, and experiences. At Oakhill Drive, we focus on the five aspects of Wellbeing which we refer to as SPECS (Social, Physical, Emotional, Cognitive and Spiritual). In order to be considered "well," it is imperative that all aspects are addressed.
Positive relationships
Life is about Relationships: At Oakhill Drive, we believe that positive relationships and wellbeing are linked and impact on each other. Ways to build positive relationships are embedded into our school culture through our Positive Education Program.
Resilience
Resilience is our ability to bounce back after we have struggled, faltered or failed. It is being able to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, take a moment or two to collect ourselves and then to continue to pursue our goal. If involves optimism and a belief that we can all improve and grow.
